INDEX
A Japanese inn at the foot of Mount Fuji that continues to hone its hospitality spirit, aiming to be an inn where people (guests) can be comforted by others (staff).
Maruei is nestled in the middle of nature, surrounded by Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. From the open-air bath with a view "Fuji no Yu" on the top floor and the private observation bath "Fuyou no Yu", you can enjoy views of Mt. Fuji, and from the other open-air bath with a view "Umi no Yu", Lake Kawaguchi, you can enjoy these two of the most scenic views of the area while enjoying a comfortable hot spring bath.
In addition, the entire rooftop of the inn is open to those looking for a photo opportunity, and the "Mt. Fuji Observatory" is equipped with a special telescope, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the natural scenery of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. This is an outstanding facility that only Maruei can offer, with no buildings blocking the view. The ever-changing colors of the mountain surface in the sunlight and the seasonal scenery that appears and disappears between the clouds from moment to moment will stay in your memory forever.
The rooftop "Mt. Fuji Observation Deck" allows you to enjoy a 360-degree view of the World Heritage Site.
Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine
Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine, about an eight-minute walk from Maruei, has a history of over 1,300 years and is the oldest shrine on Mount Fuji, dedicated to Konohanasakuyahime, and is registered as a national important cultural property and a component part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site. The grounds are surrounded by tall evergreen trees and are a known power spot, where Takeda Shingen came to pray during the Warring States period.
The famous hot springs born from Mt. Fuji are further enhanced by the large public bath, "Gousou Alps no Yu," which is equipped with a rock bath, high-temperature sauna, steam sauna, and hot spring herbal bath that incorporates famous stones from all over Japan to represent the scenery of the Southern Alps, as well as the large public bath, "Wakakusa no Yu," which is popular for its female-friendly design, including the washing area.It is also nice that, together with the open-air bath, there are four baths that can be enjoyed by men and women on a rotating basis.
"Fuyou no Yu" is a private observation bath with a view of Mt. Fuji (reservations required on the day, fees apply).
The inn is located on the southern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, in one of Japan's leading tourist destinations, including the World Heritage site of Mount Fuji, yet is located in a quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle of the inn district, which is one of its great features. The guest rooms, which make use of the warmth of wood, are mainly standard Japanese-style rooms facing Lake Kawaguchi, and there are a variety of room types to suit different purposes, including rooms with open-air baths and Japanese-Western rooms with panoramic baths that incorporate universal design. In particular, the special floor, Nonohanatei, is a purely Japanese-style space with only five rooms, based on the concept of "another small inn within an inn," offering adults healing and relaxation through the inn's best cuisine and hospitality. The layout and design are splendid, with a courtyard in the center of the floor, a foyer with a gate, and a main room where you can enjoy the scenery, conveying the inn's consideration for its guests.
Offering memorable experiences with traditional seasonal events and setting
The charms of this inn are too numerous to mention, including its traditional Japanese banquet meals, which are well-known locally as "Maruei Cuisine," its heartfelt Japanese hospitality, and its well-equipped public spaces where you can fully enjoy the inn atmosphere. The inn also strives to provide guests with a memorable experience by incorporating traditional Japanese events, such as welcoming sacred sake in the early spring, bean-throwing on Setsubun, Hina sake on the Girls' Festival, and the serving of kabuto helmets on the Boys' Festival, into the inn's decorations, hospitality, and handmade events within the building. This is a Japanese inn with the atmosphere of the foothills of Mt. Fuji and warm hospitality, which you'll want to visit again and again in different seasons.
