INDEX
This authentic Japanese-style inn is just a one-minute walk from Shirarahama Beach, and offers spectacular views of one of Japan's 100 best sunsets and two types of hot springs to your heart's content.
Musashi is the only authentic Japanese-style inn in the area, located just a minute's walk from Shirahama Beach. Once you pass through the sukiya-style entrance, you'll find yourself in an open, atrium space, filled with the rich scent of wood. The carpet design makes you feel like you're walking on the shoreline, which is also exciting.
The inn was renovated ahead of its 70th anniversary, and has been upgraded to a luxurious, hospitable inn with a strong Japanese atmosphere. All 148 guest rooms are unified in a warm Japanese style. The inn aims to continue evolving by inheriting the history of the famous inn "Kinsui," beloved by the great master Minakata Kumagusu. This concept is embodied in the particularly elegant "Nagitei" on the upper floors of Aoikan. There are seven types to choose from, with a Japanese atmosphere and views of Shirarahama Beach, Engetsu Bay, Tanabe Bay, Yurahama, and more. This is a space where you can relax as if you were at home, while enjoying the spectacular view, which is the only one of the inns in Shirahama Onsen to be selected as one of the "Top 100 Sunset Inns in Japan." Another pleasure is the "Tenku" hot spring observation bath on the top floor, which is exclusively available to guests of the Nagitei. The endless sky and the vermilion sunset... A breathtaking view awaits. The sea breeze and the sound of the waves tickling your skin are also lovely. Apparently many people choose the Japanese-style residence because they want to see the view from the sky.
Enjoy "Musashi-style local cuisine" in a kaiseki or buffet style
This is the only inn in Shirarahama where you can enjoy two different types of hot springs. Saimeiyu is one of Japan's three oldest hot springs, and is recorded in the Nihon Shoki and Manyoshu, and is still passed down to this day. The large bath, where sunlight pours in, and the medium bath, which can be used all night, offer the ultimate bathing experience in this healing water. The other is Suzushiyu, a spring source closer to the sea, which flows freely into the inn's two private semi-open-air baths, Tenku and the barrier-free one. The mellow water has a high salt concentration, so the more you soak in it, the more moisturize your skin and warm your body from the inside out.
A private open-air bath where you can enjoy free-flowing water from the "Sekinyu" bath. There are two types of bath: the round "Shirasuna no Yu" bath and the square "Seishun no Yu" bath.
Dinner is Musashi-style local cuisine, nurtured by the lush nature washed by the Kuroshio Current, served as a kaiseki meal or a Japanese, Western or Chinese buffet, depending on the plan. The kaiseki meal focuses on fresh seafood, and guests can savor each and every dish of flavorful brand-name ingredients such as Kishu Honkue and the prefecture's Kumano beef. The buffet has an all-new menu, and guests can enjoy the flavors unique to Nanki, including freshly prepared dishes prepared in the open kitchen and seasonal ingredients. This is a type of hospitality that can only be found at this inn. Enjoy the scent of the wood, the hot springs, and the sea for a fulfilling stay.
A buffet with a wide variety of dishes made using the open kitchen. There is also a dessert corner and a kids' corner.
