Oyama, the inner sanctum of Hita, is one of Kyushu's leading plum producing regions, overlooking the spectacular beauty of the Hibiki Valley. Umehibiki Inn, which opened in 2017 in this rural area, has the concept of "plum-filled hot springs." The facility and hospitality, which allows you to feel the atmosphere of the plum village everywhere while enjoying the spectacular view of the Hibiki Valley, have become popular. The year after it opened, it was already rated as "a particularly attractive facility with the highest level of comfort" in the Michelin Guide Kumamoto/Oita 2018 Special Edition.
The magical color of the sky at dusk as the sun sets, or the morning mist gently drifting through the clear air in the early morning... A scene like another world flows through Hibiki Valley. You'll feel as if your soul is being purified. The best seats to view this magnificent view are the reclining bath and open-air bath at the large hot spring bath "Ryokuho." You can surrender yourself to the comfortable water and experience a state of ecstasy.
There are various types of guest rooms available, from which you can enjoy the fantastic view of the valley. The theme of the guest rooms is "dignified and lovely", which is inspired by the plum blossoms that bloom in the bitter cold. The villa "Oushuku" strongly expresses this theme, incorporating modern design into tradition. Overlooking the Hibiki Valley, you can enjoy the magnificent view from the indoor jacuzzi bath and the open-air bath.
All rooms at the villa, "Oushuku," have views of the Hibiki Valley and come in three types: suite, semi-suite, and deluxe. The photo shows the "Oushuku Suite." You can enjoy the spectacular view from both the open-air bath and the indoor bath.
In addition, the main building's "Nantaka" Japanese-Western style guest room with an open-air bath and a view of Hibiki Valley has an impressive bedroom and furniture with a large plum motif, creating a space unique to Oyama, the home of plums. A private annex is also an option. The annex "Ryukyo" is a spacious suite with two adjoining rooms. It has an open-air bath with a spectacular view of Hibiki Valley and an indoor bath with a jacuzzi, promising a relaxing stay surrounded by tranquility.
At the direct sales shop of the attached plum wine factory, Umeshugura Oyama, you can purchase souvenirs of the plum wine produced in-house.
For dinner, enjoy the "Umehibiki Kaiseki" meal, which uses local ingredients and is good for the body and mind. For aperitifs, try two types of plum wine produced by "Umeshugura Oyama," which is highly acclaimed both in Japan and overseas. For breakfast, recharge your energy with rice cooked in a kettle, even the crust, and a wide variety of other dishes. After the meal, you can enjoy tea time at "Asamoya Terrace," where you can feel the breath of the valley.
There is some good news. A sauna lounge that can be reserved exclusively for guests from check-in to check-out will open in July 2024. In addition to a private sauna overlooking the Hibiki Valley, there will be a lounge and terrace, providing a separate relaxation space from the guest rooms. The large public bath is also scheduled to be renovated and reopened at the same time.
