Sakura no Sho is conveniently located at the 22nd step of the stairs leading to Konpira Shrine. The cherry blossom-patterned interior creates a floral stage-like atmosphere for your stay.
Kotohira is famous for the Shikoku Konpira Kabuki Grand Theatre, which is held during cherry blossom season at the old Konpira Grand Theatre (Kanamaruza). The new guest room building, Bettei Hatsune, was inspired by one of the plays, "Yoshitsune Senbonzakura," and offers an exceptionally bright stay.
A premium Japanese-Western style room with an open-air bath, "Bettei Hatsune," opened in April 2020.
The Japanese-Western style rooms, with their modern Japanese décor, are completely private spaces decorated with a unique Kabuki feel. The rooms also feature an open-air bath with natural hot spring water, from which you can enjoy a view of the path to Kotohira Shrine or Sanuki Fuji all to yourself, making them the perfect place to retreat. In March 2024, four new "Connect - Sauna & Spa Rooms" with private saunas will also be available, bringing the total number of rooms to 27. Guests staying at the "Hatsune Premium" rooms will enjoy special benefits such as access to the exclusive VIP lounge "Tsuzumi" and a Hatsune-exclusive premium kaiseki meal at "Hanamise Kitchen Ikiri," which features an open kitchen designed to resemble Konpira Kabuki.
In March 2023, the "Yusuran Sauna Spa Room" and "Yusuran Universal Room" will open, which are rare in Shikoku and feature a private loyly sauna, cold bath, and outdoor hot spring bath. Enjoy a pilgrimage to Kotohira Shrine, soak in the hot springs and sauna in a private space, and savor the special cuisine... Sakura no Sho's new proposal is already attracting attention.
The Yusulan Sauna Spa Room is equipped with a loyly sauna, a cold bath, and an outdoor hot spring bath where you can enjoy outdoor air, allowing you to enjoy Finnish-style sauna time. The sauna is also equipped with a Bluetooth speaker where you can enjoy music.
Dinner at the inn's pride and joy, the panoramic restaurant Ikiri, is a kaiseki meal created by Chef Kazutaka Yamaguchi, a "contemporary master" who will be awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon in spring 2024. For the main course, choose between beef or sea bream teppanyaki and enjoy it hot and fresh from the open kitchen. The selection of dishes is sure to impress the audience. The chefs in action and the fiery feast are just like actors and a performance. Special menu items such as appetizers inspired by "Hatsune no Tsuzumi" and steaks prepared for guests are also masterpieces created with the utmost effort of Chef Yamaguchi.
Chef Kazutaka Yamaguchi, who has been recognized as a "Contemporary Master Craftsman," will also be awarded the Yellow Ribbon Medal in spring 2024.
An example of an appetizer inspired by the "Hatsune" drum played by Shizuka Gozen in the "Kawa-tsura Hogenkan no Dan" scene from Yoshitsune Senbonzakura.
The inn is also proud of its hot springs. For gentlemen, there are two open-air baths and an indoor bath overlooking the Konpira Shrine gate, and for women, there is an octagonal open-air bath and an indoor bath, allowing you to enjoy the comfortable Kotohira-cho Chikoin Onsen to the fullest. This relaxing inn is waiting for the arrival of its main character, the guest.
