The finest hot springs are infused into all our hospitality. Drinkable springs and our own free-flowing hot springs. A hidden hot spring blessed by nature.

The Izu Longitudinal Expressway has been extended to Tsukigase Interchange in Izu City, and the section between Kawazu Nanataki Interchange and Kawazu Sakasakawa Interchange across the Amagi Pass has been opened, making it even more convenient.
From the direction of Numazu and Mishima, take the Izu Longitudinal Expressway to Tsukigase, then switch onto Route 414 and head further south, crossing the Amagi Pass, dotted with Joren Falls and wasabi fields, exuding a unique atmosphere, and just after passing the 45-meter elevation difference "Kawazu Nanataki Loop Bridge", take the recently opened Izu Longitudinal Expressway "Kawazu Shimoda Road", head from Mitsukuri towards Yokokawa, follow the signs and turn left to reach the final route to Kannon Onsen.

Kannon Onsen exterior Kannon Onsen is quietly nestled in the lush mountains of Izu Oku-Shimoda. Here, the finest Kannon Onsen is alive in every hospitality experience.

The atmosphere is that of a "quiet, secluded road," and you might find yourself scratching your head and wondering, "Is there really a hot spring facility up ahead?" However, if you walk carefully along the narrow road for a while, you will be led to the so-called "Kannon Road," which was apparently built by the proprietress herself, and Kannon Onsen will come into view.

When the hot spring was discovered, a statue of Kannon was excavated, the "Statue of Shiyu" of Seiunsei Kannon Bodhisattva.

Kannon Onsen Kannon Onsen Route to Kannon Onsen

The final route to Kannon Onsen is the perfect example of a "secluded, quiet road."

Kannon Onsen is committed to providing the finest quality hot springs, both drinkable and directly from the source. The alkaline springs, which gush forth from three abundant sources, are exceptionally soft (hardness less than 1.0) and contain the beauty ingredient silica, making them an exceptional quality. When bathing in the springs, a voluminous, fluffy layer is created that gently envelops the body. After bathing, the skin becomes as smooth as a newborn baby's, so the springs have earned the nickname "new skin baths," which go beyond beautiful skin. The springs are also perfect for drinking, and their gentle texture and slightly sweet taste have won the gold award at the Monde Selection for three consecutive years, earning them the honor of the highest gold award.

The hotel consists of four buildings: "Pygmalion," an inner room with an open-air bath in every room; "Main Building," with rooms with a full-height cypress bath; "Seiunkan," with rooms with a garden cypress bath in a lush forest zone; and "Ubusuna-tei," with five rooms renovated in 2022. You can choose according to your budget and atmosphere. There are two large baths: "Galatia Kannon-no-yu," which is exclusively for overnight guests, and "Kannon Principle," which is for day-use baths. "Kannon Principle" was created as a day-use hot spring, based on the proprietress's wish to allow more people to experience Kannon Onsen. What is particularly noteworthy is that, due to the proprietress's particularity, almost all of the baths at Kannon Onsen Onsen, from the large public bath to the indoor baths in the rooms, are "drinkable spring water and directly drawn from the hot spring source."

Drinkable spring water flows from three hot springs, and the baths are made from our own free-flowing spring water. Two large cypress baths

Galatia Kannon-no-yu is surrounded by tranquility, and is an open-air bath filled with stars.

Kannon Kannon Onsen Large Cypress

Galatia Kannon-no-Yu, large cypress bath.

Galatia Kannon-no-Yu makes generous use of cypress wood from the hot spring grounds. The baths are representative of Kannon Onsen, including the "Large Cypress Bath" with its rich cypress scent, and the "Starry Sky Open-Air Bath" where you can relax and enjoy the natural hot spring water while taking in the crystal clear Kannon Onsen, and the"Forest Sauna."

Then in 2008, the third hot spring source was discovered after further drilling. The first day-trip hot spring, "Kannon Principle," was born from the proprietress's wish to "make it easier for more people to enjoy Kannon Onsen!" The word "Principle," which means "essence, principle, and rule," was chosen to realize the "essence of healing," which is to "make many customers feel happy and energized through Kannon Onsen!"

Like Galatia, the bathhouse is popular for its large cypress bath, which uses an abundance of cypress from the premises to create a rich fragrance, as well as the open-air bath, sauna, vibrating bath, and foot bath, which is rare in day-trip hot springs. After bathing, you can quench your thirst in the drinking spring corner, and try out the original cosmetic series based on the Kannon spring water in the powdery space. You can truly enjoy the Kannon spring water from both inside and outside your body.

The reborn Kannon Onsen"Yakata of Birth" allows you to enjoy the finest quality hot spring water, both drinkable and straight from the source, in the privacy of your own room.

At Kannon Onsen, you can choose from four different rooms to suit your travel style. The first is Kannon Onsen, named after the Greek myth Pygmalion, which says that if you keep wishing for it, your wishes will come true. "I want to spend some special time in luxury, treasuring my privacy!" This is a wish that will be granted beautifully. All rooms are attractive, with drinkable spring water and the hotel's own spring water, and an inner room with an open-air bath, where you can fully enjoy the finest spring water in your room while feeling the changing of the seasons on your skin.

Kannon Onsen Seiunkan Guest room with garden cypress bath

Kannon Onsen Seiunkan was designed by the proprietress herself, and the guest rooms feature garden cypress baths.

For those looking for a slightly more reasonable stay, we recommend the "Main Building," which has a panoramic cypress bath with its own free-flowing hot spring and drinkable spring water in all rooms. The VIP room, "Kannon no Ma," is a spacious 18-tatami room with an attached bedroom. By partitioning the room, it is possible for a family of three generations to stay at the same time. You can also relax and chat while gazing at the starry sky at the "footbath table" on the outdoor deck.

The third is the "Seiunkan" room, designed by the female owner herself, which comes with a garden cypress bath with drinkable hot spring water and a private hot spring source. The design, which is a wonderful fusion of Japanese and Western styles, is very popular, and it is a pleasure to spend a quiet holiday while being soothed by the lush forest zone.

And finally, there is the detached "Ubusuna-tei" building, the birthplace of Kannon Onsen, which has been reborn in commemoration of its 50th anniversary. Three connecting rooms have been created with this renovation. Adjacent rooms are connected by interior doors, making it spacious and ideal for large families or groups. While you can freely move between rooms saying "good morning" and "good night," you can still sleep and use the toilet in separate rooms, allowing you to maintain a reasonable amount of privacy. In addition, the cypress bath with its own free-flowing hot spring and drinkable spring water, installed on the wide wooden deck, is overwhelmingly large! It's nice to be able to stretch your legs and enjoy a relaxing bath. As you soak in the footbath, a special time just for the family flows by slowly.

Kannon Onsen is controlled by actively using hot spring geothermal energy and a solar system, and the resort practices an earth-friendly resource recycling model. The "Kannon Onsen peach wine" and "plum wine," both of which have been well-received. In addition, the "spring umeboshi" plums, which the staff pickles themselves and finishes drying in the sun the old-fashioned way, are a popular souvenir item. The rich alkaline activity (pH 9.5) of the Kannon Onsen water brings out the mellow flavor of the plums, making this a proud product.
