Hotel Tsubakikan is just a 2-3 minute walk from the main building of Dogo Onsen fully reopened. Once you've changed into a yukata, you can enjoy bathing in the main building of Dogo Onsen and strolling around the town of Dogo with ease. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to experience the charms of Dogo up close. A stylish Madonna woman dressed in a yagasuri kimono and hakama will welcome you at the front entrance. Once you step inside the building, you'll be captivated by the open-ceiling space, which makes you feel as if you've traveled back in time to the Meiji era. This is a brilliant production that can only be achieved through the stage production of "Botchan."
If you want to enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs, we recommend a special room where you can fully enjoy Dogo Onsen. The "Special Room with Rock Bath" with a small garden is an elegant Japanese-style room that is the highest rank at the inn. It can accommodate up to six people, and you can luxuriously enjoy the panoramic rock bath that draws water from Dogo Onsen. Another attractive feature is the spaciousness of the two rooms, one 12.5 tatami mats and the other 6 tatami mats, which are connected together. Bed-type rooms are also available, so even elderly people can stay here with peace of mind. The "Special Room with Cypress Bath" can accommodate up to seven people, and is a two-room room with one 12 tatami mats and one 6 tatami mats, which is connected together. You can relax in the spaciousness while enjoying the Dogo Onsen Onsen bath with the scent of cypress.
If you're looking for comfort, choose the "Japanese-Western Room" with its modern Japanese feel. The Western-style space with two beds and the tatami space with cushions are comfortable and will ensure a pleasant stay. Other guest rooms include the "Japanese-style large room" that can accommodate 10 people and the barrier-free Western-style room that is wheelchair accessible, meeting the needs of all travellers.
The highest rank of Tsubakikan is the "Special Rock Bath Room." This elegant space consists of a spacious 12.5 tatami mat Japanese-style room and a 6 tatami mat Western-style room with a living room set.
Tsubakikan's pride and joy is its open-air bath surrounded by an elegant Japanese garden and a newly renovated large bath made of solid granite. The women's bath is the "Red Heron Bath" and the men's is the "White Heron Bath." There's no need to worry about changing the baths, and you can enjoy the 3,000-year-old history of the baths at your leisure. At night, you can enjoy the mysterious atmosphere of the illuminated garden.
Depending on your accommodation plan, dinner will be a kaiseki course or buffet, where you can savor the seafood of the Seto Inland Sea, the bounty of the land, and the seasonal flavors of each season. The kaiseki course meals, which can be enjoyed in a private room or a Japanese-style private room, include the most popular "Iyo Beef and Sea Bream Kaiseki," "Sea Bream and Shrimp Banquet Kaiseki," and "Luxury Kaiseki." The dishes are prepared with care by skilled chefs, taking advantage of the natural flavors of fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea and seasonal vegetables grown in the nature-rich mountains, and are sure to please anyone who visits.
The spacious "Restaurant Buffet Tsubaki" offers a fun and lively buffet with a variety of Japanese and Western dishes, including freshly grilled steaks from the open kitchen, sushi, and tempura. Spacious table seating is also available.
The most popular dish is the "Standard Kaiseki" (one example), which allows you to experience the unique taste of Ehime with all five senses.
A special treat presented by Tsubakikan is the local performing arts "Navy Drum Show" held in the lobby from 8:40 pm after dinner. The Murakami Navy swept across the Seto Inland Sea during the Warring States period. Reminiscing on that history to the powerful sound of the drums will be a memorable experience. We hope you will come and see it.
