A hidden hot spring. Climbing the mountain in a cable car... This is a thrilling moment that can only be experienced at Hotel Kazurabashi. Awaiting you at the top of the mountain is the "open-air bath in the sky," which commands a magnificent view of Iya. The looming mountain air, the dense scent of the forest, the rising wind, the floating white clouds... This is truly a hidden village hot spring.

You can enjoy the hot springs you have been longing for in the open-air bath made from local Awa blue stone. The observation deck with a great view also features a "sky foot bath." The water is a simple sulfur spring that is good for the skin and is also expected to have skin-beautifying effects. For a rest, why not sit by the hearth at the nostalgic thatched roof of "Hanbei's House."

Recent renovations have created modern, comfortable guest rooms

The guest rooms, in contrast, have a modern appearance. The "Semi-Suite" on the top floor, the fifth floor, which was recently renovated, is a Japanese-Western room in the Sukiya-style building. It is a soothing space that even comes equipped with a Goemon bath. The "Deluxe" room, which opened in March 2024, is a luxurious space equipped with a 12-tatami Japanese-style room, a Western-style room with twin beds, a bathroom, and an infrared sauna. The "Premier" Japanese-Western room, which was also created at the same time, is a guest room created in collaboration with the popular brand "Refa". There are seven types of guest room, including the only "Tenjin" room with an open-air hot spring bath. The space, which overturns the image of a hidden place, clearly responds to the modern trend for comfort.

Iya, once difficult to travel due to being blocked by deep canyons and mountains, has unique customs even in its cuisine. For dinner, enjoy a variety of local dishes handed down in Iya. "Sobamai Zosui" (buckwheat rice porridge) was born from the wisdom of life in Iya, where rice could not be harvested. "Dekomawashi" is buckwheat dumplings, tofu, and konnyaku on a skewer, grilled to resemble a doll (deko) and served with a sweet miso sauce. "Iya soba" is thick noodles made without adding any binding flour. "Salted grilled sweetfish" is slowly grilled over charcoal. All of these dishes are sure to give you a sense of Iya's history and culture. In between meals, the hostess will liven up the feast with her "Iya flour milling song". It's a rare experience.

The Iya region is also home to the legend of the Heike clan. At night, tours are held every day to see the illuminated Kazurabashi Bridge. The accommodation is guided by a nostalgic bonnet bus.

Hotel Kazurabashi Cuisine

Enjoy the flavors of Iya, such as "Dekomawashi," "Grilled Salt-grilled Sweetfish," "Soba Rice Porridge," and "Iya Soba."

Hotel Kazurabashi Cuisine

The soba dumplings, tofu, and konnyaku skewered on top of each other resemble a doll's deko (deko), and they are grilled while being turned, hence the name "dekomawashi."
