Founded in the Edo period, this long-established inn is "closest to the Yubatake."
Check out the new rooms and hospitality that will let you enjoy the charm of Yubatake to the fullest!
Located in front of the Yubatake, Hotel Ichii has a history of over 300 years dating back to the Edo period. Recent renovations have seen the establishment of a series of facilities and hospitality that make the most of the location, transforming the hotel into a highly comfortable inn while retaining the spirit of a long-established inn. For example, the Souvenir Center, located on the first floor of the main building in front of the Yubatake, is Kusatsu's largest shopping facility, creating a particularly lively atmosphere in the well-maintained Yubatake. In addition, the large public bath, Ishidono, which draws water from the precious Shirahata source that springs up in the Yubatake, has installed baths of different temperatures so that everyone can bathe in peace, and has also renovated the post-bath area, welcoming guests with careful consideration.
Located on the Yubatake side of the main building, this souvenir center is a popular spot to create memories of your trip. It is the largest in Kusatsu and offers a wide variety of souvenirs, including local specialties, bath salts made from the six major hot springs in Kusatsu, and famous sake.
Ishidono is a large public bath filled with Shirahata hot spring water, which can only be used at around 10 inns in Kusatsu that are close to the Yubatake.
The "Yubata Side Executive Room & Mountain Side Executive Room" was fully renovated and reopened on March 20, 2024, on the top eighth floor of the main building adjacent to the Yubatake. Reborn with the design concept of "making your stay in Kusatsu even more special," the space is filled with the warmth of wood and the scent of traditional Japanese culture, and features an inner terrace-style living room where you can relax on a sofa made of Hida furniture, a Simmons bed with a thick mattress that offers the most comfortable sleep in Kusatsu Onsen, a projector that allows you to enjoy TV and subscription services on a large screen, and an electric fireplace that enhances relaxation with soothing lighting, promising an exceptionally elegant stay.
The rooms on the Yubatake side have a view of the illuminated Yubatake, while the mountain-facing rooms have a window-side counter table overlooking the seasonal scenery of Mt. Shirane. You can enjoy the spectacular view from Kusatsu's best location while drinking Nespresso coffee. The amenities and fixtures are also of a higher standard than those in the regular rooms.
A buffet restaurant is also planned, and a lounge with a view of the Yubatake will also be open.
For meals, you can enjoy a Japanese banquet made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients from Gunma at the restaurant "Kimi no Roman" that exudes a Taisho-era romantic atmosphere, or the monochrome modern restaurant "Araragi." At "Kimi no Roman," the main course is a choice of meat or fish dishes, freshly prepared from the open kitchen, which is very popular.
There are three dining options, including in-room dining, but from autumn 2024 a "buffet restaurant" is scheduled to open in the banquet hall on the ninth floor, and careful preparations are being made for this, with the aim of "allowing guests to enjoy the deliciousness of piping hot, freshly cooked food that they could not enjoy when dining in their rooms."

Inside the building, Lounge Sakura is open only to guests. It was originally a photo spot for the Yubatake, so the views are outstanding. In addition to free coffee and a water server, there is also a coin-operated server for wine and sake, which is available for a fee. You can enjoy your time however you like while watching the steam rising from the hot springs and the illuminated Yubatake, a feature that can only be achieved at an inn located directly in front of the Yubatake. When you think of Kusatsu, you think of the Yubatake. When you think of the Yubatake, you think of Hotel Ichii Ichii.
