Koubai- Koubaitei promises an enjoyable stay in the temple town of Kotohira Shrine. Enjoy a thrilling dinner in a private room at the stylish and modern auberge "Kappo Dining Maruchu" or the open kitchen-equipped "Gochisousaryo Sanka Sanka."
The inn's predecessor, Kappo Maruchu, gained popularity for its dishes that carefully selected ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea and prepared from scratch. The cooking methods that carry over from that restaurant's DNA are also unique. Head chef Takeda Toshifumi is the winner of the 26th National Skills Grand Prix "Japanese Cuisine Occupation" category and is one of the "Contemporary Master Craftsmen." In 2021, he was also awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon. Using his outstanding skills, he creates a variety of refined dishes that adhere to the basics while also incorporating traditional techniques. The specialty Sankaihorakuyaki is a delicacy that can only be tasted here.

In addition to the corner suites that were renovated in March 2024, rooms with hot spring open-air baths inspired by the Manyoshu, Japanese-Western rooms with Japanese beds, and VIP rooms with access to a lounge exclusively for guests, the "Living Suite Kimiko" is a Japanese-Western room with a modern Japanese-style open-air hot spring bath that was created between 2022 and the following year and is attracting attention. Equipped with four Simmons beds, you can enjoy the hot springs privately and spend a luxurious time watching Sanuki Fuji and Kotoden from the terrace. One "Kimiko Universal Room" has also been newly opened. During your stay, be sure to take a tour of the "2 hot springs and 3 hot springs". The hotel has "Hanasumika" with four baths for men and women, "Hana Club" a relaxation floor with two private open-air baths, and "Koubaitei Garden Hana Terrace" with an outdoor bath feel, with "Ukigumo" and "Soyokaze" with a variety of baths, which can be enjoyed on a rotation basis.
The indoor hot spring bath in the Japanese-Western style room "Kimikaka" with an open-air hot spring bath opened in February 2022.
The women's open-air bath "Hana Sumika" is located on the first basement floor. The "Hana Open-air Bath" with roses floating in the bath is very popular.
On June 1, 2024 , Koubaitei opened four rooms at "Toraume," an inn where you can stay with your beloved dog. All rooms are equipped with a dedicated dog run, in-room dining where you can dine with your dog, and an open-air hot spring bath for dogs. The second floor also has a dog run and a free drink corner as shared space. In the past, pilgrimages to Ise Shrine and Konpira Shrine in Sanuki were long and difficult journeys, so it was common for people to request "substitute pilgrimages" in place of others.
A guest room at Torabai, an inn where you can stay with your beloved dog.
It wasn't just people who were asked to make these "substitute visits" - dogs would sometimes make the visits in place of their owners, and would reach their destination safely with help from travelers and people along the roads and inns. There is also a history of dogs called "Konpira Inu" making the pilgrimage to Kotohira Shrine in place of their owners who were unable to travel in the late Edo period. Be sure to check out "Toraume," where you can enjoy a trip with your dog while experiencing the deep bond and history between dogs and people.
