Zeami said, "It is flowers that move the guests, but the true flower, which is the secret of Noh, is born from ingenuity and invention of the heart, and it is a flower that speaks from the heart with a background of tradition, so it is named Fushikaden." This worldview can be felt at Yamatoya Honten, which was founded in 1868. The space, which is particular about traditional Japanese architecture such as sukiya-zukuri and Juraku walls, stands dignified, and the Noh theater "Senjuden", which is filled with the feelings of a long-established inn, and traditional hospitality themed on Fushikaden, make for a relaxing stay.

The entire building was renovated in 1996. The guest rooms are special spaces that are free of extravagance.

The guest rooms, which were renovated in 1996 with the addition of hotel functionality and services, are comprised of "Japanese-style rooms in the sukiya style" and "simple, modern Western-style rooms" with refined designs and craftsmanship that eliminate excessive extravagance. The space is furnished with only the finest items, from the low tables and chairs to the flowers, furnishings, and futons, and the types with beds have a double bed made by Slumberland, a supplier to the British Royal Family, in the anteroom. Even the standard Japanese-style rooms are special spaces, with different ceilings and lattices in each room.

Ehime urban legend "Tangerine juice from the tap"

The most enjoyable thing is the water drawn from Dogo Onsen. The men's and women's baths are equipped with indoor and outdoor baths where you can enjoy the historic hot springs in a variety of ways. Once you've had your fill of the baths, be sure to stop by Yamato Yatai, which is free to use. The sake bar, where you can pour yourself a sake from a barrel, and the snack bar that children will love will make your post-bath time even more enjoyable.

Yamatoya Honten Women's Open-Air Bath

The women's bath, "Ominaeshi," is a jar-shaped open-air bath carved out of a single piece of Iyo-Oshima stone. You can also enjoy the open-air rock bath and the indoor bath made of cypress.

Yamatoya Honten Men's Large Bath

The men's bath, "Otokoeshi," is an indoor bath with a rugged rock in the center. It also has an open-air bath filled with the scent of cypress.

"Tangerine juice from the tap" is a popular souvenir from travel. In Ehime, where mandarin oranges are loved, juice comes out of the tap... This joke was so funny that it spread throughout the country as an urban legend, and Yamatoya Honten actually created it. It's a special experience that can only be found in Ehime, and will soothe your travel fatigue.

For dinner, enjoy Yamatoya Honten's traditional Japanese kaiseki banquet, made with seasonal ingredients from Setouchi and seasoned with the local flavors of Iyo. It is also possible to add special dishes to create your own course. The recommended course is the luxurious "Iyo Beef "Silk Taste" Teppanyaki and Setouchi Red Sea Bream," made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients from Setouchi and seasoned with the local flavors of Iyo. You can enjoy a variety of dishes using Ehime's signature fish, red sea bream, as well as "Iyo Beef Silk Taste," a brand of beef characterized by its silky fine texture and delicate flavor, served on a teppanyaki grill. There are two restaurants, each with seven private rooms built in the sukiya style, and a restaurant overlooking the Noh stage.
