The pH level is an astounding 10.2. The "miraculous alkaline spring" that everyone praises is known as a "beauty bath" that leaves your skin smooth and silky.
Nebuta Onsen is a hot spring that springs up at the foot of Notonosho, the highest mountain in Oku-Noto, behind Noto no Sho. As described in a Wajima folktale as "extremely smooth water,"Notonosho's hot springs are highly alkaline natural hot springs with a pH of 10.2. They are also called "miracle hot springs." There are very few springs with such a high alkaline value in the whole country, and they are not even found in five-star inns.
The strong alkaline simple spring with a pH of over 10 promotes the metabolism of old stratum corneum and leaves skin soft and smooth, making it a true "beautiful skin bath." You will feel your skin become smooth as soon as you soak in the thick water. Many women who visit the inn rave about it, saying it's "just like lotion!" and they say they become big fans after just one bath. Traditional Wajima lacquer artisans have also used this hot spring to soothe skin that has been allergic to lacquer.
It will take time to restore all the buildings affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake, but the inn is aiming to restore the hot spring facilities as a first step. When that day comes, we hope you will come to Wajima. Day-trip bathing is also available. The miracle hot springs are only possible in Notonosho.
"A lodging where you can fully enjoy Noto" that you should definitely visit after reconstruction
The second floor observation bath allows you to enjoy the miraculous alkaline spring water as it spreads out to the horizon. On the first floor, there are the soothing baths "Asanagi" and "Yunagi," where you can feel the water bubbling up from under your feet. You can enjoy the hot springs in your guest room in the special room "Takasu," which has an open-air bath with 100% natural spring water, or in a guest room with a semi-open-air bath with 100% natural spring water. On the mountain side, there is the "Milky Way" guest room, decorated with a large Wajima lacquer panel created by world-renowned lacquer artist Junichi Hakose, offering a hospitality space unique to Wajima and ensuring a memorable stay.
The cuisine offered is two types of kaiseki cuisine that are unique to the fishing town of Oku-Noto. The inn's proud "creative kaiseki cuisine" is a symphony of seafood and the elegant, delicate beauty of Wajima lacquerware. The cuisine prepared by the head chef, who trained at a traditional Japanese restaurant, is a testament to his skilled techniques. The Wajima lacquerware tableware enhances the color and flavor of the cuisine. The other is the "charcoal-grilled kaiseki" that can be enjoyed in a private room with an open hearth. The charcoal-grilled local fish is incredibly delicious and goes perfectly with the local sake delivered from the brewery. For breakfast, you can enjoy rice grown in the terraced fields of Wajima and delicacies from the fishing town. You won't be able to stop eating the many flavors that are unique to Japan's first Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Site, "Noto no Satoumi Satoyama." As the inn owner says, "I want to express Noto with this hot spring inn," the tatami-floored interior is decorated with traditional crafts, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing time while soothing yourself in the atmosphere of Noto.
Enjoy charcoal-grilled kaiseki cuisine at a table overlooking a hearth at the renovated Nebuta Chaya.
Support the reconstruction!
Miraculously, Nebuta Onsen started flowing again just one month after the disaster!
Nebuta Onsen, which gushes forth from the land of Nebuta, about 3km east of Wajima city, is a hot spring with blessed spring quality that has been called a miracle hot spring. The alkaline water, with a pH of 10.2, is gentle on the skin, and feels as if you are soaking in lotion. It is said to have many effects on rough skin, stiff hands, feet and shoulders, poor circulation, and recovery of motor functions. Since its establishment in 1926, it has been a popular hot spring known as "Nebuta no Yu," visited by many people from neighboring towns as well as locals.
However, the earthquake that began on January 1st caused the hot spring to stop flowing. Roads were cut off and we were left isolated. This experience was a source of deep sadness. However, on January 31st, one month after the disaster, the hot spring miraculously began gushing forth once again. This was a message from God! "Restart the hot spring as soon as possible!"
We aim to reopen Nebuta Onsen as soon as possible. Many houses in Wajima city have been completely or partially destroyed, and many people are unable to take a bath, but there are growing calls for the restoration of Nebuta Onsen. Nebuta Onsen is essential for the restoration of Wajima. As a first step, we will first work on rebuilding the hot spring facilities.
We aim to revive Nebuta Onsen and accelerate the revival of the local community. We will move forward through the revival of Nebuta Onsen, which has been loved by many people for many years.
