The Iwo Danai Garden Bath, where you can enjoy the hotel's exclusive Iwo Danai Onsen, is truly a spectacular sight!
14 million liters of hot spring water is poured directly into the baths each day from 14 springs.
Step inside and you'll find an impressively large space. In the center is a large bathtub filled with lush green water. The water cascades down from a high-rise spout like a waterfall, and around it are a row of gazebos housing various bathtubs. It's an experience so extraordinary it's almost out of the ordinary.
Kirishima Hotel's pride and joy, the Iwodani Garden Large Bath, is luxuriously flowing with 14 million liters of hot spring water that gushes out of 14 springs every day. It is said that this amounts to 50 drums per minute. The spring quality is "Iwodani Onsen," which is a mixture of sulfur, alum, saline, and iron springs, and is only available here at Kirishima Hotel. You can experience the true essence of a hot spring in terms of both quantity and quality.
The facility is divided into three zones: a free zone, men only, and women only. The free zone has eight types of baths. Sulfur springs are in the large bath, red pine bath, longevity bath and reclining bath, iron springs in the golden bath, and alum springs in the cypress bath and alum bath, so you can choose the effects you want to enjoy. The large bath with cascading water is just over 25m deep. With a depth of 1.4m, you can enjoy a standing bath that promotes blood circulation throughout the body while giving you a feeling of floating. There are also times reserved for women only in the free zone.
The women's zone has an open-air bath called "Akiko no Yu" named after the poet Yosano Akiko. You can also enjoy "Oryo no Yu" named after the wife of Sakamoto Ryoma.
Filled with the bounty of the mountains and sea, Satsuma's local banquet course The power spot of the 100-year-old cedar garden
The guest rooms that allow you to relax in the hot springs are available in the Takachiho Wing, which offers an exceptionally high-quality experience, the standard East Wing, and the more affordable West Wing. On the 6th and 7th floors of the East Wing, there are modern Japanese twin rooms with twin beds in a space with Ryukyu tatami mats.
Dinner is a local kaiseki meal filled with the bounty of the mountains and seas of Kagoshima, the kingdom of food, including black pork shamo hotpot, black wagyu beef steak, and sake sushi. Using local ingredients, the taste of each dish is convincing, as it is cooked using traditional cooking techniques that live on in Satsuma. Special order dishes such as satsumaage, tonkotsu stew, and abalone steak are also perfect accompaniments to potato shochu.
From the restaurant you can see the 100-year-old Cedar Garden, which the hotel has carefully preserved and which covers an area of 100,000 square meters. It is also popular as a power spot. You can enjoy the fantastic lighting at night and an early morning walk with a forest bathing feeling while looking at the divine 100-year-old cedars. Relax in the powerful hot springs, savor the delicious food of Satsuma, and receive power from the 100-year-old cedars. There is also a history corner of Kirishima, which has a connection to Ryoma Sakamoto, which is endlessly fascinating.
The 100-Year-Old Cedar Garden (afternoon). The trees were planted 160 years ago and have been carefully cultivated for generations.
