The inn is located right in front of the Dogo Onsen Main Building, which will fully reopen on July 11, 2024. It is located on the main street of the inn district, making it a great location for visiting hot springs and walking around town.
Taking the escalator from the entrance leads to the white-themed lobby that stretches up to the 11th floor. In the atrium, "Iyo Kasuri" textile works, which require an enormous number of steps to produce, hang down, and a see-through elevator leads to the guest rooms. Local craft art is displayed here and there throughout the building, giving a sense of the local character of Dogo, Ehime.
The folding screen in the elevator hall on the 9th floor, which was renovated in September 2018, is a work of art that combines "Ikazaki Washi" paper, made by the flowing method that utilizes the pure waters of the Oda River, with the French gold leaf craft technique "gilding." You can also enjoy viewing the artworks inside the popular guest rooms with footbaths and an adjacent room. You can also enjoy viewing dynamic artworks in the Japanese-Western rooms with open-air baths on the 10th floor, "Hana Suite," "Tsuki Yadori," and "Yu Suzumi." You can also purchase works you like at the gallery in the lobby that displays the works of "Toberite," a group of local female ceramic artists.
The large public bath and the adjacent open-air bath with a view of the sky are available in either hot or lukewarm water, allowing you to enjoy Dogo's baths, the oldest hot springs, at your own preferred temperature. Dogo's waters have been loved by many people for 3,000 years, and are alkaline simple springs that are gentle on the skin. They soothe both the body and mind, and also have skin-beautifying effects. The large public baths are alternated between men and women in the mornings and evenings, allowing you to enjoy bathing in different baths.
The restaurant's strength in being able to procure high-quality ingredients steadily through its own established procurement routes is well known among local repeat customers who come for the food, and in particular, the Ehime brand Iyo beef "Kinuno Aji" is a long-selling and popular main ingredient. For dinner, there are plans to compare it with Ehime pork, plans with Setouchi sea bream as the main dish, and plans to fully savor Iyo beef "Kinuno Aji". Iyo beef "Kinuno Aji" is a Japanese black beef with a clear production history and lineage that has been raised in the prefecture for more than 10 months by producers certified by Ehime Prefectural Agriculture, and is characterized by its fine, silky "sashi". It has a soft and mellow texture and the delicious flavor that only high-quality beef can have.
The half-buffet, which includes a main course and local dishes made with seasonal ingredients, allows you to enjoy Ehime cuisine. At dinner time, you can enjoy a taste comparison of the nationally popular Uwajima sea bream rice and the Shimanami navy-related seasoned sea bream rice. For breakfast, you can also enjoy a bowl of shirasu from the Seto Inland Sea. The restaurant offers free soft drinks, making this a fun-filled inn with a lot of thoughtful consideration.
