High-end guest rooms that will make your stay even more elegant.
New guest rooms offering panoramic views of the human shogi stage have also been introduced.
Takinoyu offers a variety of high-quality guest rooms that are immeasurably satisfying.
The premium room is the 340-square-meter "Imperial Suite Top," located on the top floor of the main building, a luxurious connecting room linking the special VIP room with three premium bedrooms.
The design of the special VIP room was overseen by Kenmochi Design Institute, a pioneer in the Japanese interior design industry. The space, which brings together the best of Yamagata craftsmanship, including furniture, carpets, and paintings, is the most luxurious space in the hotel and is also used by members of the Imperial Family.
Two of the connecting rooms are a premium barrier-free room and a premium Japanese-style room with an open-air panoramic bath. Up to eight people can stay.
The most popular rooms are the special room "Ryuo-no-ma"in Shikitei, known as the venue for the "Ryuo-sen" tournament, the highest title match in the shogi world, and the "Ryuma-no-ma" where the regular referees stay. The Ryuo-no-ma is a historic room that is still talked about today as the stage where Ryuo Habu became the first man in history to achieve six titles.
In August 2024, five guest rooms with a rooftop terrace and open-air observation bath overlooking Tendo's landmark, Mt. Maizuru, will be built on the third floor of the main building. The highest grade rooms are two 81㎡ Japanese-Western style rooms, perfect for long-term stays.
Guests staying in the rooms listed here will receive complimentary access to the club lounge and private garden bath.
A premium Japanese-style room with an observation bath on the top floor of the main building. This special guest room is a traditional Japanese-style room with an observation bath, and from the open observation bath you can get a panoramic view of Tendo's landmark, Mt. Maizuru.
The attraction is the food
The places where you can enjoy the beauty baths that Tendo Onsen is so proud of are the women's "Beni no Yu" and the men's "Aino Yu," the "Hanagasa Large Baths" which are approximately 1,000 m2 in size, and the universally designed garden private bath "Yuan," where you can enjoy 100% natural hot spring water.
The spring water is a weakly alkaline sulfate hot spring and contains a lot of sodium, calcium, magnesium, and metasilicic acid. It is effective in relieving fatigue, promoting health, treating cuts, peripheral circulatory disorders, and poor circulation, and is also said to have skin-beautifying effects when drunk.
At Takinoyu, the use of hypochlorite has been reduced and a sanitation system that uses silver ions has been introduced in consideration of the impact on the human body, spring quality, and the global environment. There is less of an unpleasant chlorine smell and less irritation to the skin, and you can enjoy the natural softness of the hot spring water.
Takinoyu is renowned for its consideration for people and the environment, and strives to provide safe, reliable, and delicious food that is good for the body, using many pesticide-free organic vegetables grown on the hotel's own farm and making an effort not to use chemical seasonings.
You can enjoy dishes centered around seasonal local ingredients grown in the Yamagata countryside and Yamagata beef, which is characterized by its deep flavor and mellow fat, at the private dining room "Kurazen," which is modeled after an old-fashioned house and storehouse; the dining room "Komorebi," which has an open kitchen and wines from Yamagata Prefecture; the private dining room "Hanaguruma"; and the moon-viewing kappo "HAYAMA," which has eight counter seats. Breakfast is served at a restaurant with an open kitchen facing a Japanese garden, where you can enjoy a buffet with about 40 types of food. You can enjoy freshly made delicious food and local cuisine to your heart's content.
Reservations are required for the moon-viewing restaurant "HAYAMA." While gazing at the famous Dewa peaks of Mt. Gassan and Mt. Hayama in the distance, you can enjoy "freshly picked seasonal produce" that is only available here, with a particular focus on local delicacies. All sake, wine, whiskey, craft beer, juice, etc. are produced in Yamagata Prefecture.
