[Kaminoyama Onsen, Yamagata Kaminoyama Onsen ]

Reservations can be made through this website.

The lodging has further evolved into one where you can experience "Yamagata" on a deeper level.
A new page has been written in the history of the Koyo.

Kaminoyama Onsen is surrounded on all sides by mountains such as the Zao mountain range, and retains the atmosphere of a castle town and post town. Koyo is an inn known for its particularly elegant facilities and flawless hospitality from the proprietress down to all the staff.
There are two topics of discussion: the luxury suite room that will be available in 2024, and an experiential breakfast buffet that will take you on a journey through Yamagata.

The Koyo to use "spring water"
Two suite rooms with spectacular views are now available

The Zao mountain range is part of the Ou Mountain Range that runs down the backbone of the Tohoku region, and gently slopes along the border with Miyagi Prefecture. You can enjoy the magnificent view along with the pleasure of a hot spring.

Located on the top eighth floor, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Zao mountain range, the cityscape, and the countryside, are two suites with observation baths where you can enjoy hot spring water straight from the source, a first for Koyo.
The "Koyo Suite Japanese-Western Room" is the largest at Koyo, measuring 102㎡ and accommodating up to five people. It is a luxurious space with an open living room where you can enjoy the view, a semi-open-air bath filled with hot spring water, a private cypress sauna room where you can do self-louvering, and an outdoor deck where you can enjoy the fresh air.
The Koyo Suite Twin is also a luxurious space with a spacious 87 m2 interior, a 50-inch LCD TV, and an open-air observation bath filled with hot spring water, and can accommodate up to four people.
Both rooms are Japanese modern spaces with a chic black base, combining calmness and sophistication, and Yamagata culture is sprinkled throughout the interior and furnishings. The bedrooms are equipped with Sealy double beds for a quality sleep. There is also a desk for office work, making them suitable for long-term stays.

Along with the "Premium Suite Room with Teahouse Open-Air Bath" which opened in 2023 and comes with a self-loyly sauna and private theater room, this is a suite space where you can experience the ultimate relaxation while privately enjoying the gentle Kaminoyama hot springs, one of the three most beautiful spring qualities.

The newly created "Koyo Suite Twin" comes with a natural hot spring panoramic bath. You can enjoy a special resort time with a view and a sense of openness while soaking in the comfortable hot spring. While you are in the room, you can enjoy the view of the Zao mountain range and the rural mountain scenery.

"Yui" is a new style of Japanese banquet that allows you to experience the deliciousness of Yamagata ingredients anew. It is a marriage of carefully selected ingredients from Yamagata Prefecture, such as funagata mushrooms, Shonai persimmons, temari sushi, and Zao cheese, with unique special sauces such as cherry sauce and dadachamame sauce that bring out the flavor of each ingredient.

The premium suite's private sauna (approximately 3.8 m2) is made entirely of cypress. Up to five people can enjoy the auto-louver sauna together. The adjacent indoor bath can be used as a cold bath, and you can also enjoy an open-air bath by using the outdoor deck of the open-air bath.

The "Premium Room" is equipped with an 85-inch TV, making it a true theater room. You can freely use VOD (video on demand) services such as Netflix and Hulu, so you can create your own theater (a paid individual account is required).

An unprecedented breakfast buffet with a focus on the "Yamagata feel" is also being created

Reopened in July 2024 as the "Yamagata Journey Experience Breakfast Buffet," which offers new values in food by focusing on the "Yamagata feel" in the menu, serving style, presentation methods, and interior design.
In the breakfast buffet venue, which has been transformed into a space decorated with flower hats, you can enjoy four breakfast dishes from Yamagata, all chosen by over 80,000 guests a year.

These include the specialty "imoni" made with traditional Yamagata vegetables such as akudoimo (potato yam) and ebiimo (shrimp potato), and locally brewed soy sauce; "thick omelet" made using a secret recipe created by the previous head chef and kept safe for 30 years; "exquisite French toast" created by the chef of Yamagata Pudding, a fruit pudding specialty store; and "Tsuyahime rice balls," a specialty of Koyo.

The new breakfast venue's symbol is the "Imoni Nabe" hotpot. You can have as many refills as you like.

The main symbol of the venue is a specially made, extra-large 80cm diameter potato stew pot. The French toast is topped with "dripping honey from honeycomb frames" from Hyakkaen Beekeeping, located at the foot of Mt. Asahi and Mt. Iide, and when you eat it, you can have a simulated harvesting experience by scraping off the honey yourself. The flavor of the honey changes with the seasons, and includes cherry, horse chestnut, akasia, yellow jasmine, Japanese pear, and watermelon. In addition, the Tsuyahime rice balls made in the open kitchen are also popular for their performance of branding with the Koyo branding mark. You can also have ochazuke in the food stall corner. All of these are food experiences that can only be had at an Koyo. You will definitely not want to leave the venue.

The attraction is the facilities
The attractions are the hot springs with beautiful views and "Raku-yaki"

The best part of the hot spring is the dynamic view. On the 8th floor, you can enjoy the exceptional comfort of the open-air observation bath "Zao no Niwa" that overlooks the magnificent view of the Zao mountain range and the night view of Kaminoyama, as well as the large observation bath that overlooks the cityscape including the Kaminoyama Castle tower.

Everyone is amazed by the "Garden of Zao." Stretching your limbs and gazing at the mountain scenery of Zao and the vast expanse of the sky will make you feel refreshed.
On the first floor, there is the "Safflower Bath," which is an open-air barrel bath with a Japanese feel, as well as the "Kamakura Sauna," which has both hot and cold temperatures, and a high-temperature sauna.
An experience unique to Koyo is making your own Raku pottery. Seeing the Raku pottery on display in the Raku pottery gallery and museum, which displays over 3,000 pieces of Raku pottery by famous people from various fields, will inspire your creativity. If you make it on the day of your arrival, it will be fired by the time of your departure.
