Jozankei Onsen is surrounded by overwhelming natural beauty, even though it is located just 30km from the center of Sapporo. Jozankei Manseikaku Hotel Milione, famous as the inner sanctum resort of Sapporo, offers a variety of ways to enjoy the area, taking advantage of the region's bounty in every aspect, from its facilities to its hospitality.
The facilities, which opened in 2021, promise to provide an extraordinary stay overlooking the Jozankei mountains.
"In harmony with the seasons" in Jozankei,
2 Western-style rooms with a panoramic sauna
The most popular are the two Western-style rooms with an observation sauna, the first of their kind in the Jozankei area, located on the 13th floor 45 meters above ground. From here you can enjoy a refreshing stay while looking out at the seasonal colors and the Toyohira River valley.
The sauna is a Finnish-style self-loyly sauna that does not require you to endure the stuffiness of high temperatures, and the 114m2 Western-style room with "private panoramic sauna sauna room" is equipped with a box-shaped flat bench facing Mt. Asahi, while the 72m2 Western-style room with panoramic sauna is equipped with a two-tiered curved bench that fits the human body. The terrace is also equipped with a cold bath and reclining chairs for enjoying the open air and the view, making it truly a "sauna in harmony with the four seasons."
On the 11th to 13th floors, there are 14 Western-style rooms with hot spring observation baths that overlook the beautiful valley. The spacious 80 m2 space can accommodate up to four people. The hot spring is a colorless, transparent, and mild sodium chloride spring that will warm you to the core even in winter.
Shirakaba Roastery opened on the first floor of the hotel in June 2024. You can sample the beans in the store and purchase your favorite ones.
Birch Terrace bakes about 20 kinds of bread every day, making crispy croissants that are perfect as souvenirs. They are so popular that even people from the neighborhood come to buy them.
A new loyly sauna with an outdoor bathing terrace,
"Bisen" is a large public bath of approximately 450 m2 where you can enjoy Jozankei's famous hot springs.
The highlight of the experience is the large public bath, "Bisen," filled with rich, soft-to-the-touch hot spring water that naturally flows from 56 springs. In the large space of about 450 m2, there is an open-air bath where you can watch the seasonal changes of the Jozankei mountains, and a reclining bath that has a great relaxing effect, so you can enjoy it for as long as time allows.
In 2024, the sauna on-site will be renovated to a larger self-service and auto-louly type. There are two types of cold baths, a 1.1m standing bath and a vibrating bath with different water temperatures, and a new outdoor bathing terrace has been built outside the open-air bath. After the sauna or after the bath, you can enjoy the mountain scenery and the mountain breeze, making it even more relaxing.
Enjoy creative seasonal banquet meals in the dining area reserved for the "Western-style room with observation sauna" and "Room with hot spring observation bath"
For guests staying in these "Western-style rooms with panoramic sauna" and "guest rooms with hot spring panoramic baths," creative seasonal kaiseki meals are available in the private dining area "Kuksa." The entrance is reminiscent of a teahouse's nijiriguchi (traditional Japanese sash), the interior has a calming wooden design, tableware selected to match the colors of nature and the mountains, and fresh seasonal produce selected from all over Japan... As the restaurant's name suggests, which means "the recipient will be happy" in Scandinavian, you can fully enjoy a premium moment filled with the hotel's thoughts.
"Kuksa" is a private dining area exclusively available to guests staying in Western-style rooms with panoramic saunas and rooms with hot spring panoramic baths.
The attraction is the food
Enjoy a creative seasonal kaiseki meal made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients
The highly anticipated cuisine is diverse, including a Japanese, Western and Chinese buffet featuring Hokkaido vegetables and seafood, a creative seasonal kaiseki meal available exclusively in the premium rooms, and izakaya menu items.
Dinner is a buffet with about 80 different handmade dishes from Japan, Western and Chinese cuisine, including standard dishes, which can be enjoyed in a restaurant reminiscent of a colorful market.
The live kitchen boasts Milione's authentic stone oven pizza and aged beef that has been aged for over 30 days, which are also popular. Breakfast and dinner are just as good as the buffet, with 70 items. You can enjoy homemade Japanese and Western dishes along with freshly made rice balls and freshly baked bread from the bakery.
On the first floor is the stylish lounge "Birch Terrace - Bakery & Cafe -" filled with the warmth of wood. Why not buy your favorite bread from about 20 kinds baked in the bakery and enjoy it with a fragrant coffee? On the terrace, you can enjoy a comfortable time with your feet floating in the soft hot spring water.
The hotel also offers a wide range of facilities to enrich your stay, including an izakaya that serves fresh seafood, a 20-meter-long indoor pool, and more.
Sapporo's secret resorts are so full of charm that you can't enjoy them all in a day.
Authentic stone oven pizza. The dough is made from carefully selected wheat flour and Levain yeast that is aged in-house, then kneaded with olive oil and left to ferment overnight. The dough is in a perfect condition depending on the temperature and humidity, so the dough is baked in the stone oven at the perfect timing while keeping an eye on how it rises and browns.
