A Japanese resort with ocean views from all rooms.
The best space is a suite room with a spectacular view and a bath with natural hot spring water.
The surprise comes the moment you enter the room. You'll be taken aback by the grand panoramic view of the Sea of Japan that suddenly opens up before you. This thoughtful touch, Isagoya, where all rooms have an ocean view, is met with great applause.
The view of the sea sometimes creates a fantastical world where there is no boundary between it and the sky. This state is called "Mukyou," and the "Mukyou" suite, which was launched in 2023, offers a happy time spent gazing at the sea showing its "fleeting expression" while being deeply soothed in a magnificent space with the finest facilities.
There are three artistic suites available at "Mukyou." They all share a common set of features, including a living room with a panoramic view, an open-view bath with a natural hot spring where you can enjoy the famous hot springs of Oshu Sanrakugo, a Japanese-style room, and designer furniture, but the layout, interior decoration, and atmosphere vary greatly.
The "Terrace Suites" come with observation terraces and walk-in closets, while the "Stay Suites" come with a mini-kitchen with microwave, drum-type washing machine, and work desk, allowing you to select the room that best suits your needs.
In addition to these three rooms, there is a Japanese-style suite with a natural hot spring and a cypress-wood panoramic bath, bringing the total number of suite rooms to four. In addition to these, there are seven other types of rooms that are gaining popularity, including a two-room wide deluxe twin room, a stylish Japanese-style twin room, and a Japanese-style deluxe twin room with two beds in a spacious 12.5 tatami room.
The attraction is the hot springs
The baths are the Ginsui-no-Yu, a stone bath with a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan overlooking Yunohama Beach, and the Gesui-no-Yu, a garden bath overlooking a waterfall. Each bath also has two open-air baths, which can be enjoyed on a rotation basis. The sunset you can watch while soaking in the hot springs that warm you to the core is also memorable.
The open-air Ginsui-yu bath overlooks the Sea of Japan as it is dyed in the evening glow.
We recommend the reservation-only "High Private Spa Sazanami." The sophisticated space is equipped with a cypress barrel bath, a minibar with champagne, and sofas, allowing you to enjoy the ocean view while bathing in the music. The synchronized sounds of the waves and the water, and the time spent surrendering yourself to the music, are truly the ultimate in luxurious relaxation.
The private bath "High Private Spa Sazanami" features a cypress barrel bath and a relaxing living room with audiovisual equipment.
The attraction is the food
The menu is for gourmets, with a focus on seasonal ingredients. The most popular dish is the Shonai Hamakaiseki, which features an abundance of seafood from the Sea of Japan. The rich flavors of the best seasonal ingredients, such as winter cod, cherry salmon, blackthroat seaperch, rock oysters, Spanish mackerel, squid, and crab, are brought out using a variety of cooking methods. Another thing to look forward to is the variety of Yamagata's local soups, including potato stew in autumn, dongara (cold cod) soup in winter, and moso soup in spring.
It is also a pleasure to enjoy the "Rosui Zen" served in a Rosanjin dish at the dining room "Saryo Tsukioka" which also has a Rosanjin Gallery. You will also want to order some local Shonai sake.
