No matter which room you choose, it's a prime spot with a spectacular view of Lake Gosho and Mount Iwate. You can relax and forget about time while watching the ever-changing scenery.

Mount Iwate, also known as Omote-Fuji, reflects its gentle form in Lake Gosho, constantly changing with the seasons and the passage of time. Hotel Shion is a Japanese-style resort located on the shores of Lake Gosho. The magnificent scenery of the mountains and lake forms the basis of its hospitality, creating an elegant and richly local atmosphere for guests.
All guest rooms offer mountain and lake views, and the scenery changes depending on the floor and room location, captivating guests with its unique atmosphere. Therefore, no matter which room you choose, it becomes a prime spot with a breathtaking view.
Introduced in 2023, the hotel boasts only three "Premium Rooms" on its fourth floor. These rooms offer 100% natural hot spring water in both the open-air and indoor baths. Each room is 90 square meters and equipped with a smart lock. The facilities and services are all specially designed. Guests can enjoy exquisite kaiseki cuisine prepared by the head chef in their private dining room. This is a highly recommended space.

Located in an area close to Kitakami, Ou, and the Sanriku coast, the inn offers a menu full of seasonal, locally sourced delicacies. The basic meal is the "Nanbu Magariya Kaiseki" (traditional multi-course Japanese meal). The all-you-can-eat corner, which reflects the season and local flavors, is also very popular. You can also enjoy local flavors with the Japanese kaiseki "Megumi Marugoto Gozen" or the luxurious upgraded Japanese meal "Kayu Gozen". From April 11th to the end of March 2027, guests can also participate in the Morioka Sansa Dance Festival, which is exclusively for overnight guests.

The attraction is the hot springs
Two different hot springs, old and new, in different baths

Image: Silk Bath

The Silk Bath "Kinu no Yu" is reminiscent of a traditional Japanese-style room. Just soaking in the bathtub and gazing at Lake Gosho and Mt. Iwate has a healing and relaxing effect.

You can enjoy the high-temperature, abundant hot spring water that has been gushing out of this area since the Heian period at Hitorijime no Yu, a spectacular hot spring that includes a silk bath called Kinu no Yu and an open-air bath called Hinoki no Yu.
The water that envelops your skin is a simple spring with a pH of 8.7 to 9.5, a highly alkaline component, and contains metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing component, making it a skin-beautifying bath. The Silk Bath in particular is popular for its "microscopic bubbles that cleanse and smoothen the skin." The "Cypress Bath" has an infinity feel. You can also enjoy the strange sensation of the water flowing into Lake Gosho.
The other hot spring is a new spring source that the inn discovered. The spring quality is alkaline simple spring. The hideaway-like "Nambu Magariya no Yu" is a place where you can enjoy the luxurious flowing water. The open-air bath "Akamatsu no Yu" with its octagonal wooden roof feels like a hidden hot spring at night. The rustic atmosphere of the open-air bath "Oiwa no Yu" is also irresistible. Private open-air baths are also available.
