Founded in the Edo period, this is a long-established inn closest to the Yubatake.
New features include a buffet dining area for special occasions and new guest rooms overlooking the Yubatake baths.

Looking up at the chalk-white Hotel Ichii from the Yubatake, you can feel the "Ichii of the First Well".

Located in front of the Yubatake, Hotel Ichii has a history of over 300 years dating back to the Edo period. Recent renovations have seen the establishment of new facilities and hospitality that make the most of its location, transforming the hotel into one that offers the ultimate in comfort while retaining the spirit of a long-established inn.
For example, the Souvenir Center, located on the first floor of the main building in front of the Yubatake, is extremely popular as Kusatsu's largest shopping facility, creating a particularly lively atmosphere at the well-maintained Yubatake.

And in October 2024, Hotel Ichii's main dining buffet, "Yuun", opened on the 9th floor of the annex. It is an experiential buffet that can be enjoyed with all five senses, based on the concept of forgetting about everyday life and "enjoying a special day" like traveling.
For dinner, you can choose from two buffet styles: "Yuun" and "Kimi no Roman".
The buffet "Yuun" offers a wide variety of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes, as well as gourmet food that you'll want to eat on special occasions, such as Joshu beef steaks and roast beef, cooked right in front of you in the live kitchen.
The recommended dish is the meatloaf, handmade by the proprietress on special occasions. It is a specialty of Hotel Ichii Ichii.

The main dining area, "Buffet Yuun", with an open kitchen, opened on October 1, 2024. It is a space for enjoying special occasions, where you can savor gourmet food with all five senses. The buffet venue is efficiently and neatly arranged. The aisles are also designed so that people do not get in the way of passing each other.

Choose your main dish and enjoy it fresh at "Kimi no Romance"

Another dining option is "Kimi no Roman," which is popular for its choice of meat or fish for the main dish and for enjoying freshly grilled food from the open kitchen in the center of the venue.
The menu includes the "Standard Japanese Course," which combines Japanese banquet dishes with Western touches such as teppanyaki, and the "Upgraded Kaiseki," which is an upgraded version of the standard Japanese course in terms of both content and volume. For example, you can enjoy Joshu beef sirloin as a meat dish. It's definitely worth ordering on a special occasion.
Other dishes available to order include beef fillet steak, Wagyu beef loin steak, lobster thermidor, as well as Gunma's local flavors such as maitake mushroom and Shimonita leek tempura, and deep-fried Akagi chicken.

Two large baths where you can enjoy the Shirahata hot spring and Shiraneyama Bandaiko hot spring

The large public bath, "Ishidono," is filled with Shirahata hot spring water, which can only be used by about 10 inns near the Yubatake.

The large public bath, Ishidono, was renovated to include baths with different temperatures. Whether you like hot water or not, you can enjoy the Shirahata hot springs that truly represent Kusatsu.

The hot springs to look forward to are the oldest and most precious Yubatake-mae Shirahata spring in Kusatsu, which can be enjoyed in the large bath "Ishiden," and the Shiraneyama Bandaiko spring, which can be enjoyed in the open-air bath "Sekitei." Both can be enjoyed with luxurious free-flowing spring water.
The baths at Ishidono are equipped with bathtubs of different temperatures, which were created in response to customer complaints that the water was "too hot to get in." This allows everyone to enjoy Kusatsu's famous hot springs in peace. A new seating bath has also been installed to cool down a heated body. There is also a powder room in the changing room, and a sofa in the post-bath area that is perfect for meeting up, showing just how attentive the bathers are.

Lounge Sakura offers a spectacular view of the Yubatake

Lounge Sakura overlooks the symbol of Kusatsu Onsen, the Yubatake. There is also a large projector screen. At the counter seats, you can plan your trip around Kusatsu or enjoy free coffee and tea.

Inside the building, Lounge Sakura is open only to guests. It was originally a popular photo spot for the Yubatake, so the views are outstanding. In addition to free coffee and a water server, there is also a coin-operated server for wine and sake, which is available for a fee, making it the perfect place to relax after a bath or just enjoy a chat. Being able to enjoy your time as you please while gazing at the illuminated Yubatake is one of the benefits of staying at an inn directly opposite the Yubatake.
When you think of Kusatsu, you think of the Yubatake. When you think of the Yubatake, you think of Hotel Ichii.

Image: Souvenir Center Located on the Yubatake side of the main building, this souvenir center is a popular spot to create memories of your trip. It is the largest in Kusatsu and offers a wide variety of souvenirs, including local specialties, bath salts made from the six major hot springs in Kusatsu, and famous sake.

The charm is the room

Since its full reopening in 2024, the "Yubata Side Executive Room and Mountain Side Executive Room," located on the top eighth floor of the main building adjacent to the Yubatake, has been attracting a lot of attention.
The space, which was reborn with the design concept of "making your stay in Kusatsu even more special," is filled with the warmth of wood and the scent of traditional Japanese culture. It features an inner terrace-style living room where you can relax on sofas made of Hida furniture, Simmons beds with thick mattresses that offer the most comfortable sleep in Kusatsu Onsen, a projector that allows you to enjoy TV and subscription services on a large screen, and an electric fireplace that enhances relaxation with soothing lighting, promising an exceptionally elegant stay.
The rooms on the Yubatake side offer a view of the illuminated Yubatake, while the mountain-facing rooms have counter tables by the windows offering views of the Shirane mountain range in all four seasons, allowing you to fully enjoy the spectacular views from Kusatsu's best location. The amenities and furnishings are also of a higher standard than those in the regular rooms.
