This world-renowned resort is where the extraordinary coexists with nature.
A private and luxurious space.
This world-class resort is located on a vast mountain valley with a stream running through it. It is a member of the Relais & Chateaux group and has received the international eco-label Green Key. The highlight of the hotel is the design that is scattered throughout the building. It is a fusion of modern and traditional techniques, with a curved corridor that is about 8m high, kumiko shoji screens, Edo suminagashi walls, and stainless steel woven tatami floors.
There are only 18 guest rooms in this tranquil building of 1,300m2. All rooms have an open-air bath with natural hot spring water. Each room has a different concept, so you can have a different experience no matter how many times you visit. The luxuriously modern rooms are equipped with a mini kitchen and high-quality amenities. It is an extraordinary relaxation space.
The open-air baths in the building are the healing baths "Suzumushi no Yu" and "Hotaru no Yu". The large bath next door has a self-loyly sauna that will help you recover. The recently renovated mist sauna is a meditative sauna where you can enjoy the sound of water dripping from a single light on the ceiling at set intervals. You can also enjoy beauty treatments with the added benefits of hot springs.
The grounds, which overlook the famous Mt. Tanigawa, also include a reading room, a garden terrace, and a meditation spot along the clear stream, allowing you to refresh yourself by going back and forth between nature and this extraordinary space.
The 8m-high giant glass "curved corridor" is fantastically lit up at night, adding a gorgeous glow to the atmosphere.
The attraction is the food
Dinner is also something you can only get at a Relais & Chateaux-affiliated inn. Enjoy creative Japanese cuisine prepared using traditional and modern cooking methods using the finest ingredients, mainly from Gunma Prefecture, such as local vegetables, river delicacies such as trout, and Joshu beef. The head chef uses the highest quality domestic dashi depending on the dish, and is particular about bringing out the best flavors of the ingredients.
The colorful presentation and tableware used are stunning, making it seem like a work of art. They will also accommodate requests for wine and local sake. The breakfast is also full of locally produced seasonal ingredients, and you can enjoy dishes with plenty of fresh vegetables.
The space in which you can enjoy your meal also emphasizes privacy. There are 16 private rooms available, each with its own unique interior design, including a sunken kotatsu table and an irori hearth. The premium feel is outstanding.
Our chef will prepare a variety of visually stunning dishes using carefully selected seasonal ingredients.
