The luxury of natural free-flowing hot springs in every room and throughout the building.
There are also a variety of rooms with open-air baths, perfect for relaxing in a hot tub.
Yumura Onsen is home to some of the hottest springs in Japan. 430 liters of 98.4 degree hot spring water flows naturally from the Asanoya's five private hot springs every second. The hot springs are excellent for skin-beautifying ingredients.
At Asanoya, the natural hot spring is not diluted with water, but instead the temperature is gradually lowered in four tanks and the water flows freely throughout the entire building and into all rooms. The two rooms where you can enjoy this exceptional hot spring in luxury are Hikoboshi and Orihime, which feature a large bath filled with the scent of cypress and an atmospheric open-air bath.
"Hikoboshi" has a large waterwheel that catches your eye, while "Orihime" has a waterfall that falls from a height of 7 meters and a bathtub carved out of a 1,200-year-old cypress tree, and the water is particularly tasty. There is also a low-temperature sauna that uses geothermal energy in the basement of the open-air bath.
Most of the guest rooms have open-air baths, but one thing worth mentioning is the New ASANOYA Style Yukomori, an "adult hideaway" with an open-air bath that opened in 2023.
There are three suite Japanese-Western rooms of approximately 90 m², one executive Japanese-Western room of approximately 70 m², and one deluxe twin room of approximately 45 m². All rooms have in-room dining, and are equipped with large smart TVs and the latest smart tables, making them the perfect spaces for seclusion.
The Asanoya are descendants of the lords of Yunojo Castle. The castle-like exterior gives a sense of history.
"Yugorori" open-air bath. Enjoy the natural scenery of the mountains of Yumura while soaking in the hot spring water straight from the source.
The attraction is the food
Located close to the Sea of Japan, dinner is a Japanese-style banquet served in a private dining room, with the aim of providing the most delicious seasonal ingredients and cooking as much as possible by hand.
Using freshly made dashi broth and no additives, the restaurant serves a variety of dishes, both hot and cold, in the best condition, bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients. If fresh ingredients are available, the restaurant will flexibly modify the dishes to create gourmet meals. The "cooking at your table," where the food is cooked right before your eyes, is just as delicious as you would expect.
The winter king, Matsuba crab, is served to us using the best cooking methods, as the head chef went to Hamasaka fishing port, which has the highest landing rate in Japan, to purchase the highest quality crab at auction. We also recommend the bespoke dishes such as Tajima beef, abalone, and Nodoguro.
For breakfast, you can enjoy a Japanese meal including tofu made with rich soy milk produced in-house, local vegetable salad, and rolled omelets made in the kitchen.
The hospitality of the Asanoya is based on the spirit of "ichigo ichie" (a once-in-a-lifetime encounter) learned from the three arts of tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and incense-smelling. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a heartfelt welcome and the thoughtfulness of matcha to soothe you. The incense of the burning wood fills the air throughout the building, exuding the rich aroma of Japanese culture. Sencha, hojicha, and genmaicha (green tea) are available in the guest rooms... Your travel time will flow smoothly and lead you to the tranquility of Japan. Along with the charm of the hot springs, you will also be deeply soothed by the hospitality that lives in the spirit of a Japanese inn.
